In the midst of announcing what's coming for World of Warcraft , Blizzard made an announcement about something older. World of Warcraft Classic allows players to play an older version of the game before it saw a plethora of upgrades and expansions, responding to one of the most requested requests from fans.

Unfortunately, the details were light on how this will perform. Apart from the name and a announcement that it's coming soon, Blizzard didn't have much to say regarding WoW Classic. Director of production J. Allen Brack described the game as a "larger undertaking than you imagine," which is perhaps an acknowledgment of players' efforts to offer a more playable version of the classic WoW.

Brack described Blizzard's goal as making the experience similar to the original game, but without any of the problems players faced over the years. What about the mechanics, or other aspects of the game will alter and how Classic is accessed, and many other questions remain unanswered. Brack talked about it just briefly, and the studio rolled in a video showing major cinematics from the game's many expansions played in reverse.
