35k to invest

Unread postby » genieswish » Fri, 19 October 2012, 10:27 am | #1 of 3 |

Thinking caps on peeps, I have a question :)

The scenerio:

A man doing manual work hitting early 40's and realises his back isn't going to hold out for another 20 years..

He has 35k (euros - so around $50k?) saved up and realises that isnt going to last very long if he stops working, and isn't doing any good sitting under the matress. So he wants to invest in a business, or start a new one.

Very Little internet savvy (ebay, email and facebook), but good on the phone

Is a qualified carpenter, shopfitter and has an interest in engines and cars (doesnt want to sell them tho - has little patience with idiots and tyre kickers!)

This money is life savings - not a random windfall so no huge risk taking..

What would you do with it?

I can only think of what I would do with my website with a 50k investment, and there's no-way I would advise anyone who has their life savings tucked up under their mattress what they should do with it, cause they must be crazy, they already missing out on banking security and interest gains! LOL

stop being so sensible! I would go for an antiques/collectibles type store - have a go at upcycling and try to get some ebay/mail order stuff going along side it i reckon.
either that or frozen meals for fat people that are too lazy too work out a sensible diet :)
