Wasn't sure where to post it so off topic it goes! lol Anyway on a video game forum I am helping run now I've started a referral contest. I'm wondering how I should get the news out, I'm hoping this will bring back old members and bring in new ones as well. So far I've shared it on twitter and the facebookpage, plus shared it on my page too which actually got one of my friends to join so small victory there lol.

What other places should I post it? Any ways to advertise it that you can think of? I'm really hoping this will go well its the first time I've been an admin on a forum and I want to make it thrive hehe.

spread the word on popular gaming fanpages is probably the way to go, just dont get done for spamming lol

Iiiiii haven't tried it yet lol. I don't really want to spam so I'm going to figure out a way of doing it without spamming but that's hard. I've actually been meaning to look for some popular gaming blogs where I can link the forum in a comment, but I keep getting distracted. I wish the owner would do more stuff but he's trying at least lol just not far as advertising the contest he's been posting threads.

If it worries you, you could always message the page owner first and ask if they mind - if you dont get a reply just do it anyway - usually means they dont look at the page LOL. If you look at the other comments it usually gives a good indication of what's acceptable.

Try the comper's pages - they go nuts over a contest and will spread the word too

Compers are a bit bonkers - I used to be dedicated to my comps, but since FB it's not as much fun - I used to love sending off my postcards and getting prizes in the post. It's addictive!
