Advertising on facebook - 60 minutes 99,615 pageviews

Unread postby » MOC » Sun, 15 July 2012, 3:19 pm | #1 of 20 |

I thought I would give a example of what can happen when you run a campaign on facebook.

To explain the following snapshot a little to those who have done no advertising on facebook, this is a campaign that I can run on facebook to advertise Money On Computer Forums. The following snapshot shows the statistics on what happened in approx. 60 minutes after activating the campaign to run.

facebookads.jpg
facebookads.jpg - Viewed 3601 times - (151.4 KiB) - 556 x 386 pixels

The maximum cost per click I set was 0.25 cents. I set the daily spending cap to $5.00 dollars and set a maximum cap of $50.00 for the entire campaign. So far, I have received 82 hits directly from the ad to my website homepage after it was displayed 99,615 times within approx. 60 minutes total running time over a two day period. This is also reflected in the increased number of people online within an hour on the MOC web site, which is displayed at the bottom of the MOC homepage, and which has now reached 59.

Facebook emailed me a redeem code for $50.00 advertising, and I thought I would use that to show an example of how to use it to bring free traffic to your web site. If you received a redeem voucher from facebook in your email, make sure you use it!

I don't recommend this as a normal way to advertise, targeting 194,885,320 users lol as obviously you will reach your spending limits pretty quickly, and you may well want to keep a steady flow of traffic coming in over a longer period of time to more suitably targeted traffic. Whatever works for you and suits your objectives is what you need to work out, I just wanted to show a cool little example of the mega traffic reach of facebook advertising.

At this point with 82 hits to my site, I paid 0.11 cents per click, well lower than the 0.25 cent maximum I set per click, and which once again is well lower than facebooks suggested maximum bid limits per click as you can see displayed in the snapshot above. New members also joined MOC Forums so I'm obviously pretty happy for those new members to join here.

Thanks for sharing this. I have received so many coupons for advertising from Google and I always wondered how it really worked and even thought about throwing something together quickly just to use it! A lot of these things are finally clicking for me now that I'm really focusing on it and putting the words and examples together.

Even with a voucher, don't you have to give facebook your credit card information? I was running into that when I tried to do advertising, even if you use paypal to pay they still require a new credit card number. It pisses me off to no end to deal with that, its the main reason I've never dealt with facebook advertising.

Have you considered getting a pre-paid credit card through your bank or a virtual number that you can use for Facebook? I totally understand not wanting to give them a number.

I hadn't considered doing that, I'll check into it and might do that. Thanks for the idea, I've been wanting to advertise on facebook for a while ^_^ .

I know for a fact that American Express offers pre paid cards that you can fund from either a bank account or your actual credit card. I would go for one from your bank if they offer it as it has a better chance of being accepted by Facebook. Some merchants won't deal with a prepaid card and some will.

I recently joined a fb advertising group to learn about this, good results and good example thanks!, because I was deciding weather to use fb ads or not but I didn't realise they could get reach like that at that cpc. So now I am going to use facebook ads because that is possible.

I have $30.00 of free advertising left! But I am scared to play with nuclear powers!! haha yes of course I can!

And I read that on your blog genie.. Now I've been helping people to succeed, but I would guess Napoleon means "by helping others to succeed and charging them for it."..?

Reminds me of another blog where the guy is ranking and his headline is "I make money online telling people how I make money online."

No... surely not lol

I unleashed another $15.00 of the free advertising from facebook in the campaign and new most members in 60 minutes hits 114. The overall cost per click rate is 0.13c with click through rate at 0.054%. I swear everyone hit the site in about 15 minutes and like I said before advertising on facebook is like playing with nuclear powers.
