Facebook & Twitter removed from MOC Forums

Today we made and acted upon a decision to remove all Facebook and twitter share code from MoneyOnComputer Forums. There are several reasons for this action.

Firstly, a troubling situation we find is the cancel culture and banning of individuals and organisations with differing views to their mainstream narrative. This in our opinion is an absolute disgrace, and an attempt by these monopolies to manipulate people, be it truth or lies they only want a story told one way, which is their way. While we at MOC Forums love free speech.

We find Facebook and twitter to be unethical in their censorship and with their attack on free speech. Given this assessment, we can no longer be tied in with these companies. As I have already stated in the past, free speech and freedom of expression is essential for us all. Any and all tech companies practicing censorship and PC cancel culture will have no close ties to our network, and we have now removed their 'slow down' code from our pages!

Any topics posted about Facebook or twitter will still remain and feel free to discuss them or disagree with us, free speech remember, but the forums that were dedicated to those companies will be removed and the topics there will be moved to a more generic, social media forum.

Secondly, due to how third party sharing works, a website running these services will experience a lag to their overall page load time, causing a poorer and slower page load experience for their members and guests. Advancements have been made to reduce the 'slow down' impact, but the fact of the matter is, a website page load will be faster without this share code running at all.

After considering the impact to our members and guests, we know forum addicts have no problem copying and pasting a simple permalink to any other site that they desire. We already have permalinks instantly generated on all topics and topic replies, so we find the faster page load times and ease of copying/pasting a permalink of no concern regarding our decision to remove these social media giants from our platform! It is a very big improvement!

We would love to know what you think, have a great day one and all!
