There have been issues primarily with the facebook like button showing incorrect numbers. It was replicating the homepage like count across (some) different topics and forums after an action was performed. Twitter and G+1 were also producing erratic but not incorrect results, simply due to all board url's generated being dynamic, so the same like buttons on one page could be accessed by different dynamic url's, resulting in seemingly erratic button count behaviour to the user.

So I have re-coded as required and can (finally) say these issues have been resolved. Social sharing functions now accurately represent any topic you create. So post a new topic and share to get traffic to your topic and to our website. All social buttons are now functioning as desired, social media sharing is now fixed sitewide, and I deserve to get some sleep!
