Is Google ranking based on web activity?

I have no money to advertise yet with Adwords, but will more activity on my website (hits) raise my ranking on Google?

If the activities are legit then for sure it's going to affect your ranking on not only Google but other search engines as well. Purchasing traffic or hits won't make any positive impact here.

Google ranking can be achieved by good content update and also by building backlinks from relevant webpages.

Yes.. Google page rank depends upon the counting the number and quality of links to a page. So Website activity is to develop the quality back links.

such ranking will varying depends on website activity only .it might be on page or website promotion like building back links from good domain authority sites.
