We have been considering this for a while, and now it seems official that HTTPS is the only way to go, in the wake of all the supposed prying eyes on the internet, for added search engine ranking weight. Just yesterday, I heard that the largest hacking effort has grabbed over a billion usernames, passwords, and email addresses from multiple large websites, but the names of the sites were not mentioned. Maybe someone can enlighten us further on the name/s of these sites. And also, were any of them HTTPS sites?

While some may think that this is the best thing to do for higher privacy and security on the internet, is it? Will you make the change?

HTTPS always have preference over HTTP sites as they are more secure; especially when it comes to making financial transactions only. Google also gives preference to such sites. And yes, apart from it - who is protection and critical passwords and unique login user names keep the site more secure.
