New Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 and PAM01654



Panerai maintains its place in high-performance sailing, offering watches that embody the spirit of the America’s Cup.

On the eve of the 38th America’s Cup, Panerai strengthens its partnership with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Sailing Team with two new watches that embody performance-driven engineering and iconic design: the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 and the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653. These two watches continue the collaboration that began in 2019, when Panerai first joined the prestigious team as Official Timekeeper, and follow the style of the early Luna Rossa watches, which were known for combining advanced materials, technical innovation and iconic design.

The new Luna Rossa models combine the toughness of the Luminor collection with the aesthetics of elite sailing. The PAM01654 once again adds a flyback chronograph to the Luna Rossa collection (unfortunately it lacks a regatta function), while the simpler PAM01653 features a time and date display. Both watches are available with Luna Rossa-branded fabric and rubber straps and feature the brand logo on the matte grey dial.

The Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 watch features a 44mm grade 5 titanium case, which is both corrosion-resistant and significantly lighter. The brushed surface of the case contrasts with the polished titanium bezel. The signature Luminor crown guard further enhances the look; the red pusher on the left complements the red chronograph hand. Water-resistant to 100 meters. Both cases feature a sapphire crystal for protection and visibility of the movement.

The grey sandwich dial is matte-finished, with white Super-LumiNovaX1 luminous coating hour markers and hands, and red chronograph embellishments, which are clear and easy to read. The central red chronograph second hand and jumping minute chronograph hand ensure accurate timing. The small dials at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively display the chronograph hour and running second hands. The nautical speed scale is printed on the inclined inner edge.

The watch is equipped with the Panerai P.9100 automatic winding chronograph movement, which is a chronograph movement independently developed by the brand, equipped with a vertical clutch device, a column wheel and a flyback function. The chronograph function can be instantly reset and restarted through the button at 8 o'clock. This movement consists of 302 parts, with a vibration frequency of 28,800 times/hour, equipped with a double barrel, a power reserve of up to 72 hours, and a self-locking ball bearing rotor to ensure efficient winding. In addition, the movement is also equipped with a card-free Glucydur hairspring balance and Incabloc shockproof device.

The watch is presented on a bi-material black rubber and grey fabric strap with a red “Luna Rossa” stripe and a grade-two titanium buckle, and comes with a second black rubber strap.

For a more restrained interpretation of the Luna Rossa spirit, Panerai also presents the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653. This more accessible watch, which only displays the time, has a 44 mm case made of AISI 316LVM stainless steel, a high-quality alloy that has been remelted for extreme purity and excellent corrosion resistance.

The simple grey sandwich dial features white Super-LumiNova hour-markers and hands, the Luna Rossa logo at 6 o’clock, and a red running seconds hand around the subdial at 9 o’clock, and the steel case is water-resistant to 10 bar (100 meters), just like the titanium case.

The watch is equipped with a P.6000 manual winding movement, which provides a three-day power reserve and is equipped with a stop-second function, with a vibration frequency of up to 21,600 times per hour. Its horizontal balance bridge ensures that the watch has higher stability and precision.

This watch is also equipped with a dual-material Luna Rossa strap and a rubber strap, making its versatile, sporty and casual style more perfect.
